Open Studio Classes

Open studio compilation

The drawing and painting lessons at the Fine Arts Workshop are 3 hours and have a maximum of 12 people in each class. Taryn works closely with each person to provide personal attention and assess individual requirements.

Beginners will be introduced to art with a series of drawing exercises. Each exercise has a specific aim designed to teach a progressive build-up of skills while introducing the elements and principles of drawing. The lessons not only teach one to draw but more importantly, how to see. Most people assume that it takes a special talent to draw. However, as with any skill, drawing is something that one can learn. Through study, practice and patience, everyone can learn to put lines to paper or paint to canvas and create a remarkable art work.

Once you feel confident with drawing you can move onto the medium of your choice: pastels, watercolours or oils. Taryn makes use of simple but effective exercises which teach you how to be proficient in your chosen medium. Throughout this process you will also be encouraged to fully explore the capabilities of the media.
